“It was fantastic! They looked like brand new doors. I couldn’t believe it worked so well and was easy to do! It only took me about 4 hours to do both garage doors.” - Nancy from Illinois
Growing tired of her faded, chalky-looking garage doors and an unfortunate contractor mishap caused 64-year-old homeowner Nancy to set out on a mission to find a product that could buy her time before she would have to replace both garage doors. Though hopeful, she also understood that her once beautiful, chocolate-brown set of doors had taken 30 years of harsh, midwestern weather, and this could turn out to be too tall of an order.
While scouring websites on how to clean garage doors, she found a family of outdoor cleaning and restoration products by AL-NEW®, an Illinois-based company. After watching several helpful how-to videos, she emailed the company asking if their product would work for her application needs.
To her surprise, in only hours, Bob, Vice President of Business Development at AL-NEW®, called Nancy to talk with her about the problem. “I couldn’t believe someone called me back! It was nice to talk to a human being!” exclaimed Nancy.
Upon understanding her situation, Bob advised that due to the amount of chalky oxidation built up over the years, it would be beneficial for her to pre-clean the surface with the AL-NEW® Outdoor Cleaner. After talking her through the process from beginning to end, Nancy felt confident she could tackle this job.
As soon as Nancy hung up the phone, she ordered the products on the company website, ALNEW.com, and was ecstatic to receive the AL-NEW® Outdoor Cleaner and AL-NEW® 2-Step Clean & Protect Kit the next day. So, with only a ladder, soft brush, and a microfiber towel in hand, Nancy got to work on breathing some life back into her garage doors.
Starting with the pre-cleaning phase, Nancy tested the AL-NEW® Outdoor Cleaner on a small area in the corner of one of the garage doors to ensure it wouldn’t damage the paint. It passed the test, and she was ready to begin. Remembering that Bob said it was essential to keep the surface wet while using the pre-cleaner, Nancy sprayed it often with the hose while she used a soft brush to loosen and remove the years of built-up chalky oxidation.
After thoroughly cleaning to remove as much oxidation as possible, the doors were ready for the AL-NEW® 2-Step Clean & Protect Kit. Nancy began the restoration by wiping down the garage doors with AL-NEW® STEP-1 Clean to remove any remaining oxidation and prepare the surface for AL-NEW®STEP-2 Protect.
Nancy applied the STEP-2 Protect until both doors were coated entirely with the product. To Nancy’s delight, immediately, the shine and luster came back. The restoration was a huge success!
When asked how she felt after she was done, Nancy said, “WOW! That’s how I felt!” She goes on to say, “It was fantastic. They looked like brand-new doors. I couldn’t believe it worked so well and was easy to do. It only took me about 4 hours to do both garage doors!”
After restoring her garage doors, she is proud of how her entrance looks. “The garage doors are the first thing you see when you come to my house.” Even the neighbors have asked Nancy if she has replaced her garage doors.
With the average single garage door replacement cost of over $1100, Nancy saved over $2200 by using AL-NEW® Outdoor Cleaner and AL-NEW® 2-Step Clean & Protect Kit on both doors.
